With the mobile gaming market continue maturing, it is getting more and more important for the avid gamer that you get the best gaming phones you can your hands on. Most modern phones have similar features and comparable screen sizes. However some phones are definitely better suited for mobile gaming than others. Here we have made comparisons for the different gaming phones while comparing the screen size, graphic processing, battery life span and pricing.
1. Razer Phone. Big, bold and seriously powerful, by gaming experts
Why should you get this phone?
Razer products are generally targeted towards gamers, their 2017 November release was not an exception. They really did surprise every other smartphone brand by establishing their own two feet on this running showdown of flagship grade phones for years. If you are a true gaming enthusiast then you should really know about this phone.
The most special feature of Razer Phone is its unique display. Rather than a typical 60Hz display, the Razer Phone delivers a 120Hz QHD display, which means the gameplay will be buttery smooth. Razer phone checks up most of the key boxes like performance, display, battery life, and speakers as they are a must needed in a gaming-centric product, they are cranking up Dolby Atmos, THX-certified speakers which are insanely clear and loud.
Pros and Cons
The main USP of this phone is its 120 Hz display which elevates one’s gaming experience to its peak. As this is a gaming-centric phone the company really understands its users and packs up a massive 4000 mAh battery with a combination of highly efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with an advanced 10-nanometer design. And with mind-boggling 8 GBs of RAM with a stock like android experience which we rarely see nowadays in any smartphone.
Some of the cons which this phone really carries are poor cameras, lacks headphone jack, no water-resistant, and the screen is barely visible in harsh & bright sunlight.
Razer Phone - 1st Gen
Our thoughts
We were unable to overlook this but the Razer Phone is a hands-down amazing device, especially when considering that it is the first initial release ever made by Razer. Admitting the fact that it is too blocky if compared to other modern flagships like iPhone X and Galaxies, but that’s not a big deal because it’s not a matter of concern for gamer.
2. iPhone X. The Best Apple Can Give
Why should you get this phone?
Why you shouldn’t? Apple has never disappointed its users drastically excepting some of the iPhone gates which are duly make their way to the news after every Apple latest releases of phone, which are not even a big deal for the most people, apart from this let’s talk about some beefy specs which this iPhone X brings with, it carries A11 Bionic chip which was the highest scoring chip on the benchmarks alongside its more than sufficient to fulfill your gaming needs.
Pros and Cons
The processor of this new iPhone is insanely fast, as I previously stated it was the highest scoring chipset in the benchmarks paired up with 3GB with highly optimized software experience. Its AMOLED display with 1125x2436 pixels resolution is extremely sharp and gorgeous as it bends all around the edges, reducing bezels in every possible way, overall excellent screen. And Apple also implemented an advanced facial recognition lock which is very secure as compared to any other facial recognition techniques out there in the market.
The most annoying part of this phone is its thick notch at the top, which blocks content every now and then of apps like YouTube as you will be unable to watch the full resolution of the videos and also while playing games, it just looks very ugly. It feels very bad to see such a gorgeous phone with such beautifully crafted metal and glass sandwich design with this scar like a notch. And the biggest con of iPhone X was its price, we have to admit iPhone X was ridiculously priced at $1000, but as the launch of new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, Apple has stopped selling iPhone X as these new phones have the same starting price. But you can still buy iPhone X at much cheaper rates at Amazon and eBay probably around $750 which is a good price for a refurbished iPhone X.
Apple iPhone X
Our thoughts
iPhone X was the phone from which Apple finally revamped their design; there is no arguing that the iPhone X is an outstanding buy. The slightly higher clock speed of iPhone X chipset and AMOLED display is what makes it different from its predecessor. If you are conformable with the notch then you should consider buying one of this, but in the event you just hate it, there are other options like Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9 plus with enormous full view displays without any kind of notch.
3. Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus with a large screen, it is perfect for gaming
Why should you get this phone?
Samsung has been around in this phone market from a long time and they thoroughly understand what their users want and in what package they want. Samsung literally fixed the things which were wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus in its successor Galaxy S9 & S9 Plus. As far as performance goes it’s blazing fast as it is cranking up Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which can easily run any game and apps thrown at it.
Pros and Cons
This iteration of Galaxy device is no lesser than any other competition in the market. It delivers excellent performance with 4 & 6 GB of RAM so you can have plenty of RAM for playing games and other stuff. A dual aperture camera for better low light photos with a super-slow video mode. There are no complaints whatsoever about the Samsung displays, they are very vibrant & sharp with 2960x1440-pixel resolution. While each screen has 5.8 inches and 6.2 inches for S9 & S9 Plus respectively. And finally, they placed fingerprint scanner in a better position.
The crucial drawback of this phone is its battery life, which isn't quite up to the mark. I mean its battery is sufficient for a day, but for gaming, it might not last for longer duration. Apart from all this Galaxy S9, you can't deny it's a very delicate piece of hardware with all-glass curved on the front and back, which makes it very susceptible to any type of physical damages.
4. Sony Xperia XZ2 the gamer's phone, do you feel the source?
Why should you get this phone?
This phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which powers a stunning 1080x2160 HDR display with 5.7 inches of screen that’s perfect for any game, but other phones offer largely the same setup – it's the Xperia XZ2's stereo speakers that’s what makes it different from other phones in the market. Its dual front-facing speakers are something to talk over, especially while playing games they come very handy when earbuds just can't do the job.
Pros and Cons
This phone has a decent battery life; as it packs up 3180 mAh battery with most efficient chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It also has a unique feature by which you can capture insanely crazy slow-motion videos at around 960fps. And a new unique feature that is its haptic feedback, what they call it is "Dynamic Vibration System," the intent of it is to give console-like experience while coupled with the dual front-facing speakers.
The most obvious con of this phone is its outdated look, despite the Sony’s redesign. It is also hard to use this phone under sunlight.
5. Moto Z2 Force, what a gamer need is a controller mod.
Why should you get this phone?
The Moto Z2 Force is a very thin smartphone with battery juice to get you through any gaming session, despite the fact that it’s disappointing to have a battery capacity of only 2,730mAh. It does, however, deliver the Snapdragon 835 chip that you'd expect from a phone of this segment. It’s a little outdated as compared to the other latest phone specs, but it can still hold to the current standards.
Pros and Cons
You will find mostly stock-like Android 7.1.1 experience, top of the line specs with Blazing fast performance. It can also survive drops without shattering.
We don’t know why Motorola does this, but their International versions have more RAM. Its Camera is not great, there is frequent shutter lag. As it comes with the shatterproof screen, you have to keep in mind that it can still have scratch off. It lacks headphone jack and it’s too expensive if compared to other options it will not be the best buy. The mod accessories are sometimes fun, but usually not worth the hassle.
Motorola Moto Z2 Force
Our thoughts
Regardless of the features and specs this phone comes with, this will still play any title you like to install from the Play Store and play it well. Don’t forget the Moto Mods, which lets you add some extra functionality to your phone, battery power, or a louder speaker, or a projector to throw your games up on a blank wall and most importantly it can be your game controller like the Nintendo switch.
6. OnePlus 6. High performance with a mid-range price
Why should you get this phone?
If you know the history of OnePlus then you must be aware of what they really are doing from past couple of years, cramming up every possible flagship grade spec in their phone, keeping its price lowest as possible. You must be thinking, this phone belongs in the same price range as the iPhones & Galaxies, but you would be surprised to know that it cost half their price, isn’t that shocking? Now you can get top line specs at such a low cost. And OnePlus 6 also brings on a glass design which gives it a surreal premium look to it like every other phone in the high-end market.
Pros and Cons
It packs up solid battery life, with plenty of power of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and reasonably good cameras. Also, OnePlus is always pretty known by their nearly pure stock software experience. At this price, one can get a stellar AMOLED display, dash charge, and good glass design these features are more than justified for what they are charging us.
From a gamer point of view absence of microSD slot can be a deal breaker as they have to store a lot of their games. When OnePlus 6 released with a glass back, everyone was expecting wireless charging, but they disappointed us. Please don’t drop it in the sink as it is not truly a water-resistant device.
