Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks had some words of encouragement for Wright State University’s 2020 graduates, calling them the “chosen ones” in a video shared with students during their virtual graduation ceremony on May 2 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Hanks said they would be resilient because of the difficulties they have faced this year, and that they are now in a unique position to “make the new world, the world after all that we have been through.”
“You started in the olden times, in a world back before the Great Pandemic of 2020. You will talk of those earlier years in your lives in just that way.” He continued.
The 63-year-old was one of the first celebrities to reveal that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier in March. He has since said he will donate his blood to help medical researchers develop a vaccine to fight the coronavirus after recovering from COVID-19.
