Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent documentary reportedly has Kate Middleton going the extra mile in trying to support her family members as they go to this tough time.
Prolific royals expert Phil Dampier told Express that “behind the scenes,” the Duchess of Cambridge “is doing her best to bring everyone together and help Meghan.”
“I’m told she has reached out to Meghan and spoken to her on the phone,” Dampier said. “Kate feels sorry for her and knows that Meghan is struggling. None of them want to let the Queen down so Kate is trying to patch things up in private.”
The reveal comes one week after “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey” premiered on ITV in the UK and ABC in the US. In the emotional documentary, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about the impact that relentless international media coverage has had on their lives as newlyweds and new parents.
“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging,” Meghan said. “And then when you have a newborn, you know — especially as a woman, it’s really, it’s a lot.”

When interviewer Tom Bradby asked how she was doing, the former “Suits” actress expressed her appreciation for him even asking her the question.
“And also thank you for asking, because not many people will have asked if I’m okay,” she said. “But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
Meghan also said that she had been warned about what marrying Prince Harry would entail when it came to coverage in the media, but she dismissed any notion that she shouldn’t marry into the royal family just because it would be difficult to manage such coverage.
“I don’t think anybody could understand that, but in all fairness, I had no idea—which probably sounds difficult to understand here—but when I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy, but my British friends said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great, but you shouldn’t do it, because the British tabloids will destroy your life,'” Meghan said to Bradby. “And I very naively…we’re American, we don’t have that there, ‘What are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense. I’m not in tabloids!’ I didn’t get it.”
Dampier’s claim that Kate is taking initiative when it comes to supporting Meghan behind the scenes comes nearly a year after Kate and Meghan’s alleged feud hit its breaking point. While the two duchesses may not necessarily see eye-to-eye on how things are done in the royal family, they reportedly reconciled over the holidays last year at the urging of their husbands and Queen Elizabeth herself.
Their last solo joint outing came at the 2019 Wimbledon women’s final, where they watched Meghan’s pal, Serena Williams, play for the second straight year.
