There’s always at least one in every first-year law school class and, apparently, that rule extends to apprenticeship classes of one. We’re talking about the kid who cannot stop applying legal jargon to every mundane day-to-day situation to the unending frustration and embarrassment of everyone around them.
Appearing on Ellen last week, Kourtney Kardashian informed us of what we all should have already suspected: Kim Kardashian is that kid.
“There’s a — everything’s a liability,” Kourtney replied. “Like when we were at one of our Sunday services that [her husband] Kanye Opens a New Window. [West Opens a New Window. ] does and she’s like — it was indoors, in the beginning, it was indoors — and she’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is such a liability.”
“Like everything she’ll mention and she’ll be like, ‘If this person’s on your property — like she just, she knows all these laws now. It’s so —”
That’s not actually “knowing laws” — that’s learning the definition of the word that more or less describes everything the Kardashian clan has done for the last decade.
Frankly, all the haters out there who mock Kardashian’s legal eagle dreams have missed the mark. They always question her intellect or work ethic when it comes to joining the profession when in reality it’s always been the risk that she’d approach the job with the exact same annoying vapidity that made her famous. In the end, the 1Ls in your class who can’t stop forcing a vague grasp of legal concepts into everyday conversation truly embody the empty celebrity culture — seeking constant attention for issue spotting your f**king happy hour.
Thankfully, most law students grow out of this phase. Whether or not Kim does is a question we’ll just have to devote another several seasons of reality television to resolve.
