Shang Tsung was released as Mortal Kombat 11’s first DLC fighter not too long ago. This sorcerer is particularly versatile as he can use fire, soul stealing abilities, and transformations against opponents.
Despite having access to a number of zoning tools, Shang Tsung can really dish out the pain in Mortal Kombat 11. A recent combo video by Kavga Sokağı does a good job of demonstrating this.
First off, it’s worth noting that a number of these characters appear to use the game’s custom variation mechanic, as is evident by Shang Tsung transforming into Ermac, Reptile, Rain, and Smoke during many sequences.
During the video, Shang Tsung is able to surpass 600 damage with a number of his combos. One combo in particular ended up dealing over 700 damage.
Remember that although Shang Tsung is able to hit opponents with their own character’s Krushing Blows, the damage is reduced by half. Still, understanding the entire roster’s options has its benefits when playing as Shang Tsung.
It’s still not entirely clear where Shang Tsung will end up on the tier list quite yet. Having said that, his ability to inflict incredible amounts of damage while having access to solid zoning tools is a good sign.
