Masked singer
Brie Larson once again proved she’s the real-life super hero we don’t deserve over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Captain Marvel star stopped by a New Jersey theater to surprise fans that went to see her movie. After she was done serving popcorn and pouring sodas, Larson — dressed in a Captain Marvel tracksuit — took a minute to thank fans for coming out opening weekend to see the film. “I just heard that I was on the cups and popcorn and I wanted to see for myself,” she told the theater audience to rapturous applause. She later posed with fans while they snapped photos.

The Marvel film — which introduces Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), a part human, part Kree warrior who teams up with a young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in the 1990s — had an enormous opening weekend, grossing $153 million in ticket sales at 4,310 theaters in the U.S. and Canada from Friday through Sunday. It easily surpassed its competition for the biggest opening weekend of 2019 and was the first title of the year to open to more than $100 million. It marks the seventh-biggest opening for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second-biggest debut of a new Marvel character on the big-screen, behind only last year’s record-breaking Black Panther.
