NCT 127 just made history again. On Nov. 28, NCT 127 became the first K-pop group to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This historic performance came the same month NCT 127 became the first K-pop group to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

NCT 127 rode a Lego float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Every year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade features themed floats and balloons. The 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lucked out with pretty weather, but unfortunately there were heavy wind gusts. Because of this, the large balloons flew at a lower height.
In the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NCT 127 rode on an iconic Lego float. Johnny, Haechan, Mark, Jaehyun, Taeyong, Yuta, Taeil and Doyoung were the eight members aboard the float. On social media, NCTzens celebrated how cool it was that NCT 127 took part in the parade.
“i’m going to cry this is what they deserve yuta looks so freaking happy to be on that float and the way i can feel his eyes practically shinning it’s such a beautiful day #NCT127_MacysParade,” a fan tweeted.
“nct on the lego float at the macy’s thanksgivings day parade while cherry bomb is blasting is just surreal #NCT127_MacysParade,” wrote a Twitter user.
“JOHNNY LOOKS LIKE AMERICAN ROYALTY BECAUSE HE IS #NCT127_MacysParade@NCTsmtown_127,” one fan tweeted.
NCT 127 performed their song ‘Highway to Heaven’
On Nov. 28, NCT 127 performed their hit “Highway to Heaven” in the parade. The song is from their recent EP, We Are Superhuman. NCT 127 released an English version of “Highway to Heaven” in July 2019.
In the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NCT 127 performed a shortened version of “Highway to Heaven.” The eight members all started the performance on the Lego float. Midway through the song, Mark, Jaehyun, Taeyong, and Johnny exited the float and danced on the street in front of the float. Haechan, Yuta, Taeil and Doyoung performed the choreography behind them on the float.
“IT WAS SO SHORT BUT IM SO HAPPY AND PROUD..JOHNNY KEPT SMILING AT THE CAMERA AH #NCT127_MacysParade,” a fan tweeted.
“YALLLL IM SO PROUD OF THEM!!! NCT DID THAT!! #NCT127_MacysParade#NCT127,” wrote a Twitter user.
“OUR BOYS OUT HERE MAKING US SO PROUD #NCT127_MacysParade,” one fan tweeted.
NCT 127 became the first K-pop group to perform in the parade
With this performance of “Highway to Heaven,” NCT 127 became the first K-pop group and the first Korean artists to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The group first debuted in 2016. In the three years since their debut, NCT 127 has had two No.1 albums on the World Albums chart. Their most recent EP We Are Superhuman debuted at No.11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
“ok guys i know NCT 127 is the 1st kpop group to perform at macy’s thanksgiving parade but just cause NCT 127 is the 1st kpop group at the macys parade doesn’t mean we have to keep mentioning that #NCT127 is the 1st kpop group to perform at the macy’s parade #NCT127_MacysParade,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
The group also made history at the MTV EMAs
NCT 127 made history earlier this month when they performed at the MTV EMAs. On Nov. 3, NCT 127 performed “Highway to Heaven” at the awards show. With this performance, NCT 127 became the first K-pop group to perform at the MTV EMAs. After their performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NCT 127 has had a history-making November.
“nct 127 – first kpop group to perform at the EMAs – first kpop group to perform at the macy’s thanksgiving parade both of these happened in the same month. when i tell you they’re the future of the industry. they’re making history #NCT127_MacysParade,” wrote a Twitter user.
