Royal Insiders Are Already Sour About Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Moving In – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

It seems that Meghan Markle can do no right. Every move that she and her new husband, Prince Harry, make is criticized by both the media, and now even palace staff. The recent move of their office space to Buckingham Palace is ruffling feathers, and causing palace staff to gossip. However, the move makes sense for the new couple, and may just be yet another example of unfair treatment towards Markle. Here’s why everyone is upset, and why they really shouldn’t be.

Since Prince Harry and Markle’s split from Prince William and Kate Middleton at Kensington Palace, they’ve recently been given six large rooms as office space in Buckingham Palace. The move will not require buying new furniture or remodeling. It will simply be a matter of installing new desks. But the move has some palace traditionalists upset.

According to the Sun, a royal insider said: “The Palace traditionalists are grumpy that such a prime space is being given over to Harry and Meghan who have perfectly adequate offices already at Kensington Palace.”

However, the source also said that there’s really no reason to be upset because the rooms will still be available for staff use when Prince Harry and Markle are not using them. Some at the palace are trying to cause trouble for the couple, but the rooms weren’t even their idea. They were offered the new rooms at Buckingham Palace because they are currently unoccupied.

This morning, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle at an intimate service officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment. Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie. Their son, Archie, was baptised wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown which has been worn by royal infants for the last 11 years. The original Royal Christening Robe, made of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1841 and first worn by her eldest daughter. It was subsequently worn for generations of Royal christenings, including The Queen, her children and her grandchildren until 2004, when The Queen commissioned this handmade replica, in order for the fragile historic outfit to be preserved, and for the tradition to continue. The reason some are so quick to criticize the couple may be due to all the money spent on the remodel of Frogmore Cottage. Before they moved in, Prince Harry and Markle updated their new home with features such as a yoga studio, a spa, and guest rooms for Markle’s mother to visit. Frogmore Cottage was used in the past to house royal staff and had fallen into disrepair, so there was also lots of updating that needed to be done before they could move in.

Security was also a consideration. Before they moved in, there was little to discourage the public from wandering on the grounds. But with a new baby, that was also updated before the couple moved in for safety reasons. It’s unknown how much the remodel cost, but much of the bill was footed by the Sovereign Grant, which ultimately means the taxpayer. However, any decorative work was paid for by the royal couple themselves.

Many British were unhappy that the couple spent so much of the taxpayer’s money on their new home when they had perfectly reasonable accommodations at Kensington Palace.

Why couldn’t Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stay at Kensington Palace?

Many who criticize the royal couple didn’t understand why they needed to cause all this trouble by leaving Kensington Palace. But the two-bedroom apartment they were occupying was not large enough for the growing family. There were plans to remodel Kensington Palace to include a 21-room apartment for the couple, but that would mean the residents currently occupying that space would have to have left. So either way, renovations would have been done. But this move gives the new couple a chance to separate themselves from Prince William and Middleton.

After Markle was first engaged, the media often called the princes and their brides the “fab four.” But their lives are heading in very different directions, and they all worried about needing space to work on their separate projects. Separating their homes and office spaces made sense for everyone involved.
