The mystery behind The Child — more popularly, and incorrectly, known as Baby Yoda — only deepens as The Mandalorian goes along. A lot of good strategy is behind that, even if what viewers have seen was surprising in the child’s Force abilities.
Those who saw the penultimate episode to the first season saw Baby Yoda manage to do one amazing thing to Greef Karga (played by Carl Weathers). After Karga, Dyn Jarren, Cara Dune, Kuiil, and Baby Yoda were attacked on Navarro by some kind of flying creatures that inject venom from their claws, the child exhibited phenomenal healing powers. He saved Karga’s life after the latter was injected with the usually fatal venom.
What this means for who or what Baby Yoda has major implications. Apparently it wasn’t enough to mention in The Rise of Skywalker, however.
There seems to be a contradiction on the Force healing abilities

Screen Rant recently made an interesting point regarding Baby Yoda’s stunning ability to heal using the Force. It’s a process never seen in a Star Wars movie or TV show prior.
One reason is it was thought it couldn’t necessarily be done without complete knowledge of human biology. Also, there’s been incidents where even old Force users were using traditional medical means to heal people.
So it’s clearly not something common within the Jedi, pinning Baby Yoda as a bit of anomaly. Considering he/she/it probably doesn’t understand biology at its age, how could it manage to heal Karga so successfully and quickly?
There may be answers to that later, but nobody should expect them for the first season. With this debut season ending after the December 27 episode, it’ll likely be another year before one answer is given.
Of course, there’s a strategy behind this to cash in on the popularity of Baby Yoda next year during the holiday season. Not that fans won’t be wondering for a long time whether Baby Yoda’s Force healing abilities was a contradiction/faux pas, or just something nobody knew about. At least nothing like this has affected the critical raves for the show.
Perhaps more revelations about the Force are forthcoming
Not one person is complaining about Force Healing because we saw #BabyYoda do it first, and everything he does is perfect.

All that Star Wars fans thought they knew everything about the Force and what it entails. Perhaps much more exists beyond what’s been shown, including abilities inherent in Force-strong infants where they can heal at will without necessarily understanding what they’re doing.
Unless Baby Yoda really does know what it’s doing. Many theories are going around of the child may be being something else from what’s apparent, as in even being evil. Considering he placed a Force chokehold on Cara Dune, some analysts are thinking Baby Yoda did this willingly rather than innocently.
Possibilities exist this is really why remnants of The Empire want the child in their custody. Since The Mandalorian has already pulled a lot of twists on viewers, manipulating viewers into loving Baby Yoda would be the ultimate shock if it turns out to be a nefarious creature who knows far more about what’s going on than it lets on. There could even be some connection to the plot of The Rise of Skywalker, tangentially.
Yet, it doesn’t explain why Baby Yoda would willingly heal Karga. Then there’s also the reality of Disney probably nixing any possibility of Baby Yoda being evil so they can sell more plush toys.
Maybe there’s a strategy behind healing Karga
Some fans could easily find a reason behind Baby Yoda healing Karga, maybe as a strategy to get back at Dyn Jarren in the end. While everyone assumes Baby Yoda considers Dyn a surrogate father figure, there could be some careful cunning behind all of the child’s actions.
Disney is maybe not worried if Baby Yoda turns out to be evil in the end since all the baddies still sell well in Star Wars merchandising. It could be Disney demanded a provision of waiting a year or two to reveal this so toys could be sold in mass quantities without public reservations.
Kids knowing Baby Yoda can heal will be one of the greatest assets to sales at this time next year in every toy department.
