Ruby Rose announced this week that she would leave the lead role of Batwoman before the show’s second season, with CW to recast. But with no explanation for her departure, speculation as to the reason for her exit has been rampant.
Now Variety reports they’ve uncovered the reason for Rose’s exit. Citing multiple unnamed sources, the Hollywood trade states that Rose left the show due to the long hours required of playing the series lead, which led to unspecified “tension” between the actor and the production.
What’s more, Variety states they’ve confirmed her departure is not related to a back injury and subsequent surgery.
CW has promised to recast the part ahead of the planned 2021 start of Batwoman season 2.
