Wonder Woman 84 Poster Reveals New Costume – IGN

Could that armor really be…

Director Patty Jenkins has released the first poster for Wonder Woman 1984, following the news that Warner Bros. will not have a presence in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Jenkins tweet reads: “By now you’ve heard: WB isn’t going to Hall H this year. We’re so sad to miss you there! And waiting until Dec. to start our official #WW84 campaign in full–  But the truth is… we can just… barely… wait…”

The poster shows Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot in new armor that evokes the look of her golden eagle armor – minus the wings. She’s standing in front of a plethora of vivid colors that create a pattern of sharp angles, making out the shape of a “W.”

Gadot later tweeted the new poster as well, saying, “I cannot wait to share #WW84 with you all!! Until then we thought you might want to see this..”

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently set to premiere on June 5, 2020, after its original slot of November 1, 2019, in which it was announced in October that the film was delayed – most likely due to the summer opening slot from Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

Along with returning to direct the sequel, Jenkins co-wrote the screenplay with Geoff Johns and David Callaham. Hans Zimmer will be scoring the film and it will be his second jump into DC after scoring the entire Dark Knight trilogy.

Returning characters include Gadot as Diana and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor – even though his character seemingly died at the end of the first film.

Several new characters will be shown in the sequel, including Kristen Wiig as the archeologist Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal in an unknown role (possibly the villain Maxwell Lord), Kelvin Yu as Jake, Lyon Beckwith as Buzz, and many others.

Jenkins has already revealed that she has a plan mapped out in her mind of where Diana’s story should go if a third film in the series gets green lit, saying that Wonder Woman 3 would be set in current times, opposed to being another period piece.

Wonder Woman ended up being the highest grossing domestic superhero origin film in history, pulling in $412,563,408 making huge marks with a female starring in the role as well. Black Panther surpassed the film in early 2018, breaking the record and raking in $700,059,566, and Captain Marvel moved up one slot ahead of Wonder Woman in 2019 landing at $426,217,817 for the US box office.
