Marcia Gay Harden played a bloodthirsty zealot in the 2007 film The Mist, but even she was surprised by how much people wanted her character dead.

On the latest episode of People TV’s Couch Surfing, Harden talks about seeing the film with her then-husband Thaddaeus Scheel and the reaction he had on seeing her character’s psychotic behavior.

“When this was in the theaters, people were screaming, ‘Kill her! Kill her!’ along with my ex, which is why he’s an ex now,” Harden laughs alongside host Lola Ogunnaike. “He was eating popcorn and yelling, ‘Kill her!’ and I say, ‘Something’s off with this picture…’”
