Destiny 2 Removing Prismatic Matrix for Season 6 – Game Rant – Game Rant

A while back, in an effort to give Destiny players a bit more control, Bungie introduced the Prismatic Matrix to the Eververse in-game store. Not even a year later, the company has ended this experiment, deeming it more or less a failure. Players shouldn’t be too quick to mourn this loss, however, as Bungie is replacing it with something better that will give even more control back to players.

Season 6, Season of the Drifter, is right around the corner, and Bungie is preparing Destiny players with its most recent online report. In it, players will find details on Gambit Prime, a preview of new pinnacle weapons, and a brief explanation of what will be replacing the Prismatic Matrix. According to the report, Bungie decided to remove the system after realizing it wasn’t up to par, stating: “we can do even better.” The developer is attempting to do just that. Because player control was always at the center of the decision to add the Prismatic Matrix, that is once again the focus of this new change.

The Matrix worked like this: each weekly reset, players would be able to earn Prismatic Facets that they could then spend on a rotating selection of items chosen at random. Since the Eververse shop already has elements of randomness to it, Bungie is taking luck out of the equation entirely. When Season of the Drifter begins, there will be unique bundles of vanity items that players can purchase directly with Silver.

This should make getting the item players really want much easier. What’s more, all unique bundles will come with an exclusive vanity item available only in that weekly bundle. For the hoarders out there still holding onto Prismatic facets, those can be used up until March 5. After that, they will be reduced to Bright Dust.

The upcoming season will offer a lot more challenges to overcome than navigating the in-game marketplace. There are two new modes being added to Destiny 2. Guardians can test their mettle and fight for loads of fabulous loot in Gambit Prime, a more difficult version of Gambit, or The Reckoning, exclusive to those with an Annual Pass.

Destiny 2: Season of the Drifter begins on March 5, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
