Every video game’s score plays a role in making a good game great, and the long-running Final Fantasy series is no exception. The scores, which were nearly all composed by Nobuo Uematsu, are now available for players to enjoy even when they’re outside the game, as every main series soundtrack has now been added to Spotify.
To be clear, main entries to the Final Fantasy series now have their soundtracks available on Spotify’s music streaming service. This means that fans of any Final Fantasy game from the very first for the NES all the way through Final Fantasy 15 can enjoy their favorite soundtracks, just like Final Fantasy 15‘s protagonists listened to classic Final Fantasy songs on the car radio. The MMORPG entries Final Fantasy 11 and Final Fantasy 14 also see their soundtracks added to the service.
However, there are still some outliers that didn’t make the cut. Notably, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Final Fantasy X-2′s soundtracks are absent, although the original Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy 10 soundtracks made the list. However, Spotify is also making multiple live concert versions of Final Fantasy soundtracks available, including the Distant Worlds collections, so there should be plenty for players to enjoy.
Surprisingly, no official announcement has been released regarding the addition of some of the best video game soundtracks ever by Square Enix. However, the developer and publisher is likely busy at this time gearing up for E3 2019. Although Spotify isn’t exactly known for showering its artists in profits, enough gamers streaming the soundtrack could potentially give Square Enix a modest boost financially as well.
The developer has enough faith in its upcoming projects that it expects to see a major increase in profits for the company soon, and Spotify’s list of Final Fantasy soundtracks could play a small role in this. Of course, Square Enix’s major upcoming hits like Final Fantasy 7 Remake are where the majority of its profits will come from. It remains to be seen if Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s soundtrack will be added to the service, and if so, whether or not there will be a delay between the physical CD releases and MP3 sales and their appearance on Spotify.
Final Fantasy‘s series soundtracks are now available for streaming on Spotify.
