Wendy Williams Called Lizzo’s Basketball Game Thong “Just Wrong” – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Though we’re all celebrating the release of the music video for her hit single, “Good As Hell” — half the world is furious at Lizzo. The songstress attended a Los Angeles Lakers game on Sunday, December 8. When the camera panned toward Lizzo, she began twerking and having fun — proving she’s living her best life. However, fans did not expect to get a glimpse of the Because I Love You songstress’ bare butt.

When Lizzo bent over to twerk — fans saw that she was wearing a T-Shirt dress with the butt cheeks cut out. Though we were admittedly shocked to see Lizzo’s butt, we thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately, many fans and celebs including talk show host Wendy Williams were not amused.

Lizzo began twerking when the Laker Girls performed to her song “Juice”

Lizzo lept to her feet at the basketball game when the Laker Girls began dancing to her song, “Juice” — when she began twerking the body-positive singer showed off her cut-out t-shirt dress that she paired with fishnet tights and a black thong to match. The crowd seemed to love it, laughing and cheering for the “Tempo” singer.

Lizzo also shot her shot with Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns. “Both teams are great. I’m personally cheering for No. 32,” she told Fox Sports. “That’s my baby!”

Wendy Williams called Lizzo’s bare-butt twerking “just wrong”

Like many people after the event– Wendy Williams was horrified to see Lizzo’s bare butt as she twerked. “Lizzo has a really good career right now, so I understand her happiness. But, in all actuality, you see the thong, right?” Williams said on her show. “That’s a dress that had the cutout going on, so she was sitting booty down on the seat, booty down in the car and walking booty exposed into the arena. I would normally think they’d stop her at security and say, ‘Ma’am we understand, but there are children here. Games are like a family affair and everyone doesn’t want to see all that. Personally speaking, I love Lizzo and I think she’s really talented. But, I don’t care if this is Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, it’s just wrong! Just wrong! Sorry Lizzo.”

Williams went on to say that admired the singer’s confidence but this was too far in her opinion. “I think there’s a time and a place for a cut-out and thong showing,” she said. “Maybe a Lizzo show, or the strip club, or a nightclub.”

Lizzo doesn’t care about her twerking backlash

Lizzo is unbothered by all of the backlash that she is receiving. In fact, she would do it all again. “Who I am and the essence of me and the things that I choose to do as a grown-ass woman can inspire you to do the same. You don’t have to be like me. You need to be like you,” she said on Instagram Live. “Never ever let somebody stop you or shame you from being yourself. This is who I’ve always been. Now everyone’s looking at it and your criticism can just remain your criticism. Your criticism has no effect on me. Negative criticism has no stake in my life, no control over my life, over my emotions. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, surrounded by love. I just wanna spread that love and also spread these cheeks. And if you really don’t like my ass, you can kiss it.” She continued,

It doesn’t matter what goes on on the internet, nothing really breaks my joy. I’m a really solid grounded person. And I know that I’m shocking because you’ve never seen a body like mine in a long time doing whatever it wants to do, dressing however it dresses, moving the way that it moves. I don’t ever want to censor myself because I’m suddenly famous, or I don’t want to censor myself because everyone’s looking at me now. I’m not going to quiet myself or shrink myself because somebody thinks that I’m not sexy to them.

Welp, there you have it.
