It took 2,000 hours to put the 334,544 pieces together.
Pickup trucks keep getting more streamlined and stylish, and less like the rolling bricks they once were – and that includes the new Chevy Silverado. But the Bowtie brand has taken a step in the opposite direction with this latest show truck.
At this year’s Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet showcased this full-size Silverado made entirely out of Lego bricks. Revealed to coincide with the upcoming cinematic debut of “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,” the showpiece marks the first time a (production) Chevy has been recreated in full size out of the popular plastic toys.
The project was undertaken with the help of students from the Oxford Community School and Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary. It replicates the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss – the off-road version of the automaker’s full-size, light-duty pickup – in eye-catching red. The undertaking is said to have taken over 2,000 hours to complete. It’s made up of 334,544 pieces, and even features working lights.
“Chevrolet is once again thrilled to be working with Warner Bros. to integrate the brand and one of our most iconic products – Silverado – into ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,’” said Chevy truck marketing boss Sandor Piszar.
“The themes of determination and teamwork in the new movie align perfectly with our Chevy brand values,” continued Piszar, “and we are sure that the all-new Silverado has the features, technologies and strength that would help Emmet, Lucy and their friends as they take on exciting new challenges.”
What’s more is that a mini-build of a (more luxury-oriented) Silverado High Country will feature on the Silver Screen when the new Lego movie debuts on February 8, extending the partnership from the first Lego movie and the Lego Batmobile.
