LG Ships Ultra-Short-Throw 4K Laser Projector – Sound&Vision

LG today announced that the CineBeam ultra-short-throw 4K laser projector it

previewed at CES 2019

is now available for $5,999.

The HU85LA is designed to project images up to 120 inches (diagonal) when placed only 7 inches from the wall and uses dual red and blue lasers to expand color gamut to 92% of the DCI P3 cinema standard.

Housed in a “minimalist” rectangular cabinet, it’s the first projector to combine LG’s ThinQ artificial intelligence (AI) platform with Google Assistant voice control and supports HDR10 high dynamic range (HDR).

LG says the projector can be used in “higher ambient light conditions” thanks to a rated brightness of 2,700 ANSI lumens.

The projector boasts smart TV functionality for quick connection to Netflix and other streaming services and supports IP-control with home automation systems from Control4, Crestron, and Savant. LG’s Magic Remote, hailed as the first to meld motion-based user control with backlighting, is included.
