Did you listen to Nicki Minaj’s latest music collaboration yet? She has a verse on Chance the Rapper’s new album, The Big Day, that fans can’t stop talking about.
They’re not freaking out over any controversial lyrics or anything. It’s just that Minaj seemingly used the record to announce some major milestones involving her controversial boyfriend Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, including her engagement and pregnancy.

On the track, the “MEGATRON” rapper delivers a line about preparing for marriage and motherhood. “He the Clyde to my Bonnie, ’bout to walk down the aisle and be a mommy,” says Minaj on the song, which came out on Friday, July 26. “Ooh, I remember when I cried like, ‘Why me?’ / Now I wouldn’t exchange my life for Armani.”
The song comes just weeks after the 36-year-old revealed on her show on Apple Beats 1, Queen Radio, that she and Petty had gone out and obtained a marriage license. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness,” she said after the announcement. “It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”

Minaj recently sparked pregnancy rumors
Back in June, Minaj made an appearance on The Tonight Show, where the “Super Bass” crooner enjoyed what appeared to be a margarita with Jimmy Fallon. However, Minaj later wrote on Twitter that she hadn’t consumed any alcohol, fueling pregnancy rumors.
She also told Wonderland in late 2018 that she wouldn’t be putting off having kids “for much longer.”
“I’ve got to get married first then I’ll have a child. I might be closer than people think actually,” she said. “I love children. I’m not going to put that off for much longer.”
Minaj and Petty’s relationship history
These two have been together since at least December when Minaj made their relationship Instagram official with a lovey-dovey couples photo. However, they’ve known each other since they were teenagers. Minaj has even described him as one of her first loves.
“Nicki and Kenneth dated when she was a teenager before she was famous,” a source told Us Weekly. “They linked up when she handed out turkeys for Thanksgiving [2018] in her hometown.”
While Minaj seems to be head-over-heels for her boyfriend, fans have called him out over his criminal history. Petty, 40, is a registered sex offender in New York. In 1995, when he was a teenager, Petty was convicted for attempted rape in the first degree of a 16-year-old girl. The crime happened the previous year.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Petty also pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2006. The charge stemmed from a shooting that resulted in the death of Lamont Robinson. Petty served seven years of a 10-year prison sentence before being released in 2013.
Despite his rocky history, Minaj is reportedly “confident” that her boyfriend is a changed man, per TMZ.
