Last week was for the fighters, this week is for the lovers. We’re nearly at Pokemon GO Fest 2020, a virtual event made to give us a taste of the GO Fest experience while staying away from crowds and airplanes. And now, we’ve got the third of a series of timed research challenges, and this one celebrates our friends, both human and Pokemon. It’s time to walk and send presents,
Aside from the timed research, we’ve also got the usual changes to spawns and raids, as well as the release of Petilil and shiny Bellsprout. Because of the miracle of time zones and datamining, we already know all the steps of the friendship challenge before they’re even made available. Credit for these, as always, goes to the intrepid researchers at Silph Road, who are always there de-mystifying quest steps in the game for us. So let’s take a look:
“Stage 1
- Earn a Heart with your Buddy: 1 Razz Berry
- Send a Gift to a Friend: 100 Stardust
- Play with your Buddy: 1 Pinap Berry
Rewards: 100 XP, 100 Stardust and 10 Poke Ball
Stage 2
- Send 5 Gifts to Friend: 10 Pinap Berry
- Earn 5 Hearts with your Buddy: 10 Razz Berry
- Earn a Candy walking with your Buddy: 1 Rare Candy
Rewards: 300 XP, Alolan Raichu encounter and 300 Stardust
Stage 3
- Take a Snapshot of your Buddy: 10 Pinap Berry
- Send 10 Gifts to Friends: 10 Razz Berry
- Earn 10 Hearts with your Buddy: 1 Rare Candy
Rewards: 1 Rare Candy, Petilil encounter and 1 Lucky Egg
Elite Challenge:
- Use 30 Berries to help catch Pokemon: x5 Nanab Berry
- Send 30 Gifts to Friends: x5 Razz Berry
- Earn 30 Hearts with your Buddy: x5 Pinap Berry
Rewards: 500 XP, x500 Stardust and x5 Razz Berry”
This should be the easiest of these timed research challenges: it’s telling that Stage 3 contains an objective that asks you to take a snapshot of your buddy, which is one of the simpler things to do in this entire month-long event. Even the Elite Challenge is no sweat, really, so long as you’ve got enough friends to clean through the gifting portion in two days or so. So enjoy it, and get ready for Go Fest.
