
At long last, Jirachi is finally available to players in Pokémon Go. The Mythical Wish Pokémon is only obtainable through a set of Special Research Tasks. The full quest is called “A Thousand-Year Slumber.”
As with the other sets of Special Research Tasks for Mew and Celebi, you’ll definitely want to read through this list before you get started, as some of the requirements involve using special items that may be hard to come by or tons of candy.
All eight steps for Jirachi’s quest are listed below. We’ll be adding to this post as more steps are uncovered.
Step 1
- Catch 25 Pokémon (1000 XP)
- Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms (Jigglypuff Encounter)
- Make 3 new friends (Feebas encounter)
Rewards: Moss Lure, Glacial Lure, Magnetic Lure
Step 2
- Catch 3 Whismur (10 Whismur Candies)
- Evolve a Feebas (1500 XP)
- Get a gold medal for the Hoenn Pokédex (1500 XP)
Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 10 Pokéballs, 3 Incense
Step 3
- Take a snapshot of Loudred (Snorlax encounter)
- Make 3 Great Throws in a row (2000 XP)
- Earn 3 Candies walking with your buddy (2000 XP)
Rewards: 20 Silver Pinap berries, 3 Star Pieces, 2,000 Stardust
Step 4
- Catch 50 psychic- or steel-type Pokémon (2500 XP)
- Power up Pokémon 10 times (2500 XP)
- Send 10 gifts to friends (2500 XP)
Rewards: Fast TM, Premium Raid Pass, Charge TM
Step 5
- Battle a team leader 3 times
- Win against another trainer 7 times (3000 XP)
- Win 5 raids (3000 XP)
Rewards: 3 Rare Candies, 20 Ultra Balls, 3,000 Stardust

Once you complete these, Jirachi will appear and you’ll have unlimited tries to catch it. You must catch the Jirachi with AR mode on, unfortunately, but keep slinging balls and you’ll nab it eventually.
Jirachi isn’t a great raider, but after catching it, there will be only one more Hoenn Pokémon unreleased in the game: Kecleon.
