Earlier this year, when Samsung started taking pre-orders for its
smartphone family, it launched a pretty attractive trade in program. More exactly, Samsung allowed customers to receive up to $550 in credit towards the purchase of any S10 with trade in of an older phone. Of course, in order to actually get $550 in credit, you had to trade in a high-end expensive device in the vein of
,
, or Google Pixel 3.
As of last month, Samsung’s Galaxy S10 trade in program has changed, with the company only offering
, regardless of the smartphone model that you were willing to trade in. Today, however, the offer became more advantageous, although only for US customers planning to buy an unlocked Galaxy S10, who can now get up to $400 in credit when they trade in an old smartphone.
This enhanced trade in deal includes any
,
, or
model as long as it’s unlocked. The offer is explicitly not available for carrier versions of the S10 series, but these are still covered by the previous “up to $300” offer.

For your convenience, here are the only handsets that you can trade in to get the full $400 credit when purchasing an unlocked Galaxy S10: Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Samsung
, Samsung
and S9+, iPhone XS and XS Max,
,
, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL, and LG V40. Any other phone will either get you less than $400, or is not mentioned in Samsung’s list of devices eligible for trade in.
Samsung says that its new trade in deal will be available for a limited time. Does the offer make you want to go and buy an unlocked Galaxy S10? Let us know in the comments below!
