Ethan Embry, Steve Zahn, Jonathan Schaech and Tom Everett Scott as The Wonders in the 1996 movie “That Thing You Do!”
The Wonders, the fictional That Thing You Do! quartet, reunited for a watch party of the 1996 film in an effort to raise money for MusiCares’ COVID-19 relief fund.
The Friday night (April 17) Zoom reunion, streaming via YouTube, featured commentary from cast members Ethan Embry, Johnathon Schaech, Tom Everett Scott and Steve Zahn at home.
Tom Hanks — who directed That Thing You Do! and played the Wonders’ manager — did not make an appearance during the virtual meetup, but his son Colin Hanks did join the party.
The reunion came after the death of beloved songwriter Adam Schlesinger, who penned the song that shot the Wonders to fame in the film. Schlesinger died due to COVID-19 complications on April 1.
“Thank you, Adam Schlesinger. We will always remember you,” Scott said as the live stream wrapped.
