Nintendo announced the first in-game, limited-time event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which will kick off later this week. It’s clutch for spirit collectors, because this event will make a ton of quality spirits more readily available. And it’s especially good for those of us with subpar vision, because this event doubles as a celebration of glasses.
Legend- and ace-tier spirits of bespectacled characters will appear during specific timeframes, Nintendo said. Over the course of the three-day event, which kicks off on Dec. 14 at 1 a.m. ET and runs until Dec. 17 at 1 a.m. ET, it will be easier to run into characters like EarthBound’s Jeff and Animal Crossing’s Brewster.
They’ll appear on a recurring basis, alongside Star Fox’s James McCloud and Pikmin’s Brittany, and will be available for two hours total per day. Other spirits that will show up more frequently than usual too, all of whom will also be wearing glasses. Winning the challenge against these spirits will also net players extra gold, which is important for spending on even more spirits.
Expect the fights against these four to be especially tough, but there will be other glasses-wearing folks highlighted to challenge too. The full list is below:
