The actress recently earned praise for posting a video of her singing Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman” on Instagram. Both Grande and Larson’s fans loved the cover. The video went viral and showcased Larson’s impressive musical talent.
Brie Larson is a huge Ariana Grande fan
This is not the first time Larson covered one of Grande’s songs. Earlier in 2019, Larson posted a video of herself covering “My Everything” by Grande. When Larson appeared on “Carpool Karaoke” with her Marvel co-star Samuel L. Jackson, they sang along to Grande’s song, “7 rings.”
Larson’s cover of “God is a Woman” is an acoustic cover. The video features Larson singing a portion of the song while strumming a guitar. The caption of the video reads, “Ariana forever. Big big thank you to legend Nancy Wilson for sending me her custom Gibson guitar – I will never get over it.”
Ariana Grande loved the cover
Grande is known for her prevalent use of social media, so it was only a matter of time until she saw the cover on Instagram. When she saw it, Grande commented a string of black heart emojis under the video. Grande talks and types in a very specific style, oftentimes using solely lowercase letters and various types of hearts.
Back in 2018, a fan asked Grande why she used the black heart emoji so often. “Is the black heart some sort of tea or am i reaching,” the fan tweeted.
At first, Grande replied with, “u reachin reachin baby.” However, she then tweeted, “jk i’m empty and my heart is black now so.” When fans reacted, Grande tweeted again in an attempt to calm them down. “kiiiiiiddding (i’m not kidding) kiiiiiiiiddding relax,” she wrote.
The past few years have been notoriously difficult for Grande, and this Twitter exchange occurred shortly after Grande ended her engagement with Pete Davidson. Grande is always open about her mental health struggles which is why she let her fans know in that moment what she felt.

Larson is an outspoken feminist, so covering “God is a Woman” is fitting for her. Several of her fans took to Twitter to express their amazement at their favorite actress’ talent.
