People reports that Loughlin and Giannulli saw the athletic résumé for the first time when federal prosecutors released it to the public.

A source close to the family explained that it’s nearly impossible for the résumé to be legitimate, because Loughlin and Giannulli aren’t a part of the athletic world. The specifics wouldn’t be familiar to them and wouldn’t know what any awards or accolades would be in the world of rowing. On top of all that, the source says that the handwriting doesn’t match with Loughlin’s or Giannulli’s.

Both Loughlin and Giannulli maintain their innocence, insisting that they were misled by Rick Singer, the man behind the scheme.

“Again, they believed that they were making legitimate donations to USC,” the first source said, “and they did not know all the behind-the-scenes machinations that were going on.”
