Microsoft might not be
the world’s most popular tablet vendor
, but when it comes to productivity and versatility, you probably know you can’t do any better than a 2-in-1 Surface device running Windows 10. The problem is 2018’s high-end Surface
is not exactly affordable, even
at a cool discount of up to 300 bucks
.
But bargain hunters may also want to consider last year’s humbler and smaller
, as well as the 2017-released Surface Pro 5, both of which are on sale at essentially unbeatable prices for a limited time at Best Buy. Interestingly, the two can be purchased for the exact same price of $549 with productivity-enhancing Type Covers included, scoring overall discounts of $130 and a whopping $410 respectively.
Normally available for as much as $959 in combination with a black keyboard, the fifth-gen Surface Pro variant on sale here packs an Intel Core m3 processor, as well as 4 gigs of memory and a speedy 128GB solid-state drive. That’s hardly the most powerful configuration on the market, but you may also want to keep in mind that $549 barely gets you an entry-level
model with 64GB storage and no keyboard. The Surface Pro 5 sports a larger 12.3-inch screen with an impressive 2736 x 1824 resolution, and it even supports external storage expansion via a microSD card slot.
As for that
version on sale at $549 bundled with a platinum Signature Type Cover, you’re also looking at 128 gigs of solid-state storage, but actually paired with a heftier 8GB RAM. Once again, the Intel Pentium Gold chip running the hardware show is far from a powerhouse, but given the very reasonable price of this particular bundle, it’s definitely fast enough for day-to-day computing tasks.
